A Taipower representative stated that the government''s 2025 goal of establishing 1,500 MW of energy storage includes 500 MW from private developers integrating energy storage with photovoltaic power, 160 MW of energy storage systems built by Taipower, and an additional 1,000 MW from private resources aggregated through the Energy Trading Platform.
Future prospects Taiwan''s energy storage industry is currently in its infancy and is mainly being developed and dominated by the Taiwan Power Company (Taipower), the Chinese Petroleum Corporation, Taiwan (CPC Taiwan). Taipower expects to complete a 590 MW energy storage system installation by 2025.
To strengthen grid resilience, Taipower previously implemented a 20-MW energy storage system at the Tainan Salt Fields Solar Farm and the Kaohsiung Luyuan Substation, as well as a 60-MW energy storage system at the Longtan Extra-High Voltage (EHV) Substation earlier this year.
