Georgia Power is seeking approval for 10 new battery storage facilities totaling 3,022.5 MW and two solar-plus-storage systems totaling 350 MW as a part of an All-Source Requests for Proposals, according to the release.
Managed by Ascend Analytics, the RFP will consider standalone storage and storage paired with renewables. The projects are targeted to be online by 2031, with bids due in early 2026. Georgia Power starts 200 MW BESS in Twiggs County, expanding battery storage projects statewide to boost renewables and grid reliability.
The energy storage projects offered include direct current distribution systems, CES, anti-idling retrofit and pole utility solutions.
